Happy-New-Year-PartyAre you planning to conduct a party for this New Year. There are a lot to consider in hosting a New Year’s party. Among the important consideration that should be anticipated by the host or hostess is to prepare a party favor. You were working hard to make the party a success and when it turns out to be really successful, there must be something to remind your guest of this party which you hosted. This is the purpose of the party favors; they are trinkets or memorabilia of the party.

If your budget allows, you can save yourself from trouble and buy sets of party favors in the department store. However, if you are willing to go through the effort to spare your pocket, then, here are some ideas for party favors that should not cost you too much:

PARTY HATS:

In this craft, you will need:

  • Newspapers
  • Ribbon
  • Spray paint
  • Marker

Lay out the newspaper in its full size, and then fold the newspaper into half from top to bottom. Now it should look like a rectangle in horizontal position. Then fold the newspaper so that it would resemble the shape of a roof of a house. Imagine a vertical line drawn in the middle of the newspaper, first, hold the tip of the left side of the folded newspaper and fold it toward the middle. Do this in the right tip of the newspaper. Turn the bottom flap upwards so as to seal the open side of the hat and do this on the other side. Tuck in the edges of the newspaper against each other so they will come out neatly.

When done, you can now start decorating your party hat using the spray paint and markers and you can use other embellishments that are readily available in your home. After this, punch hole on both sides of the party hat and tie a ribbon to serve as chin strap.

NOISEMAKERS

In making this, you will need:

  • Craft sticks (or used, clean ice pop sticks)
  • Lids from metal food cans
  • Hammer and nail
  • Twine,
  • fishing line or heavy thread
  • Buttons
  • Masking tape

First, get the can lids and arrange them so that they will face each other back to back. Between these lids, put the craft sticks in the center of the lids. To hold them in place, use masking tape. Imagine a horizontal line drawn from the center of the lid, using this as the base, puncture the lids the left and right. Attach a fishing line in both holes and attach buttons at the end of the line. Make sure that the length of the line does not exceed the length of the diameter of the lid.

To use this noise makers, using both palm of your hand, twist the handle/craft stick so that the buttons will hit the surface of the lid.

PARTY POPPERS

This may not create as much noise as that of commercially manufactured party popper, but is sure to make the whole family dance with joy as each members use it. Furthermore, the fun here lies in doing the craft. To make this craft, you need:

  • Toilet paper or paper towel tubes
  • Shredded newspaper or any shredded paper
  • Miniature toys or candy wrapper
  • Tape
  • Ribbon

Get the paper tubes and cut them in half. Hold one of these upright and securing the open end of the tube using the palm of your hand. Fill the tube with candies, toys, shredded paper and wrappers. Replace the other half of the tube and secure with tissue, wrapped unto it, leave, 3 inches of tissue paper hanging on both sides of the tube and twist each like a candy.

To use these, hold one end using your left hand and the other side using your right hand, pull outward so that the goodies and confetti will come out.

MUGS

You can opt buying cheap mugs from your local store and make a label size 2×2 inches using computer and print this out in a sticker paper. In make fancy and creative labels with your New Year Messages. Lift the paper and put the sticker in the mug.

FIGURINES

Buy cheap figurines with a height of 3 inches. I prefer buying angel figurines. Put them inside a cello wrap of an appropriate size and tie using golden wires. Using your computer, make a label for these, specifically indicating the time, date and place of the party and print out in a specialty paper. The labels should be sized appropriately. Cut the labels in, punch a hole and insert in the metal wiring.
